Within Temptation does it again!!!!

If there is a song to provide hope and strength during this uncertain time, it is Entertain You by Within Temptation.
Within Temptation is a band that doesn’t need to explain how they have evolved, because their music says that itself. Securing their names as masters of Symphonic Metal with Mother Earth, The Silent Force, and The Heart of Everything, to evolving their sound with more modern atmospheres in The Unforgiving, Hydra and most recently on their 2019 release, Resist, Within Temptation can do no wrong at this point. Just when you think you know Sharon and the rest of the band, they are always able to show you something that you haven’t seen before, whether its in their sound, lyricism or style. Their newest single Entertain You is a testament to that.

Unlike a suspenseful or cinematic symphonic intro like we would normally expect it, it leads us in with a ton of groove and attitude, and after the first initial shocker, you have Stefan rather than Sharon vocally leading you in has super heavy and groovy riffs hit you square in the face. Stefan leads you in with attitude and intensity. After that brief moment of intensity, Sharon takes the spotlight on the vocals and the instrumentation pulls back and delivers a soothing use of tenderness with the keys as her vocals gently lead you through. The vocal range slowly builds up into the chorus before going in with full range and attitude, expression and freedom. The lyrics really have a rebel vibe to it. It’s almost like a symphonic metal version of Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine. The chorus is catchy, groovy, powerful and wholesome. When you take the different vibes and emotions that are demonstrated in this track, and arrange a whole composition with them, you get sonic magic. This song is rebellious, catchy, groovy, cinematic, epic and energizing. Even when the song ends, it leaves you wanting to come back for more. It’s in your face, but gentle enough to welcome you with open arms.
Within Temptation is always able to deliver something that will leave you satisfied, and leave you wanting more. You always have Sharon’s voice and the bands talents of arrangement and composition to keep you expecting their art to be good, but they are always able to expand on their language to also leave you wondering what is coming next. One minute they collaborate with Tarja, then with Mina Caputo from Life of Agony, to Jacoby from Papa Roach. With albums such as The Heart of Everything bringing, culture, symphony and emotion, to Resist bringing us to the future and instilling emotion in our rebellious hearts, Entertain You is a song that signals that great things will be coming once again.
