Promotion promotion promotion, that has always been the key to promoting your bands and getting the name out there. With every big concert that has happened, we have always seen bands from the underground sharing flyers to promote their shows at smaller venues. 

This holiday season, local bands return to this methodology full throttle as many underground hardcore, metal and punk bands have frolicked outside NYs hottest clubs, the local City Mds handing out their demos, Bandcamp links, and fliers for upcoming shows, in the hopes that their bands can attract such long lines. 

One local promoter has stated “It is really astonishing to see City MD’s becoming such a hot spot lately. Every time I would see Slayer, Metallica or any other national touring act, we would see our local underground scene at these shows networking and promoting their material, though still, nobody would come out. Now, we are broadening our audience by plugging our material and our scene in this local lines to check out this new band called Rapid Covid Test. I have heard a few people plug them from time to time, but they play at many City Md’s and really know how to get people from all over the city at all times to check them out. This is where we need to be plugging the material and promoting the underground. City Md’s are the new VFW halls”. 

It is true. City MD has been running the show when it comes to event spaces. Many doctors are considering allowing bands to put their stickers on their bathroom walls as seen at classic clubs such as St Vitus or Lucky 13 Saloon. City MD officials have expressed no desires to have any band play here so far as they think it won’t attract the same crowd that they have been having and do not have enough drink tickets at the moment.
