SKYND\m/ \m/

Industrial music has evolved so much since the early days of Trobbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy and more. While we all know and love albums such as Pretty Hate Machine and Mind is a Terrible thing to Taste, Industrial continues to thrive and prosper. Bands such as Author and Punisher or 3teeth continue to reinforce the genre with their own little spin on it. SKYND is another band brings all the insane and aggressive noise we heard in classic industrial bands while utilizing the concepts of the messed up sides of the human mind to add its own eerie element and essentially making it the party from absolute hell.

The duo featuring SKYND and multi instrumentalist and producer Father tackles all the dark elements of human psyche and creates a sonic assault on the ears that will make you dance while inducing goosebumps with every passing beat. The narrative demonstrated in a song such as Katherine Knight is basically a disturbing love story that a newly married couple can listen to at their wedding and at their funeral at the funeral at the same time. A song such as Jim Jones, the man who led nearly a thousand people to their deaths with cyanide, it is the perfect example on how they have the subject matter of pure evil to go along with an evil sound, as if Jim Jones was behind a mixer as all those people fell to their deaths. The song that really defines this band and a clear indication of what one is getting into is the song which they have a new music video for, Tyler Hadley. As you hear SKYND herself sing Bang boogie bang bang, you have heard an industrial party song this catchy since Al Jourgensen dingading danged his dangalong ling long. A song about a boy who killed his parents just to throw a party at his house, you want to dance, you want to shiver, you want headbang and you want to do all the violence on the drywall in your house at the same time.

By having this party style, essentially appealing to the EDM crowd, while have the classic industrial elements, sonically, this can appeal to all sides of the spectrum when it comes to music. It has the aggressive tendencies for lovers of metal, a catchy element for pop fans and the sonic industrial noise for everything in between. Imagine Die Antwoord, Municipal Waste and Ministry thrown in a blender.

The final thing to mention is the subject matter once again. It is something that feels so wrong, yet feels so right which goes back to their element of exploring the human psyche. Jim Jones, Tyler Hardy, or even Richard Ramirez. All of these people were messed up individuals and this can easily be the soundtrack to their killing sprees or even their conscious. Anyone interested in some of the most messed up people throughout history can further conduct research on these individuals and as you further explore the psychology of the people they write about, you can maybe look inward to discover that you have an element of darkness you never had before.
