We had a great chat with Rumahoy on the making of their latest album Time II-Party and so much more!!

1.)  How was the making of Time II: Party

IT WAS WONDERFUL, NOTHING MAKES ME HAPPIER THAN WRITING SONGS ABOUT PIRATE THINGS AND MYSELF, I AM A PIRATE CAPTAIN DID YOU KNOW, THE BEST ONE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD, WELCOME TO THE SEA!!

2.)  Could the singles, Cowboys of the Sea, Treasure Gun and Harambe the Pirate Gorilla serve as a good representation of the whole album, or is this just scratching the surface?

I THINK SO, COWBOYS HAS A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING FOR ALL THE BOYS AND GIRLS, IT IS FUN, HAS PIRATE JIGS AND A REALLY EPIC INTRO, CAPTAIN YARRFACE LIKES THIS SONG A LOT, TREASURE GUN SOMETIMES GETS CALLED TREASURE FUN!! BECAUSE IT IS SO MUCH FUN AND IS ABOUT MY GUN WHICH IS THE BEST GUN EVER MADE, HARAMBE IS ABOUT OUR LOST CREW MEMBER AND KEYBOARD PLAYER, IT HAS A FUN GUITAR SOLO AND HE MAY EVEN JOIN US ON STAGE FOR A SING A LONG FROM THE GRAVE IN OUR LIVE SHOW

3.)  Just by looking at the artwork and the songs so far, I see you took a lot of inspiration from many different sources, is that the case?

I SAY, IF YOU LIKE IT DO IT, AND WE LIKE A LOT OF THINGS SO WHY NOT CRAM THEM ALL INTO ONE ART WORK COVER!!

4.)  Do you think of concepts, stories or lyrics before music is written and that can help determine the music?

 WE USUALLY WRITE THE TUNES FIRST THEN FILL IN THE GAPS WITH LYRICS, THAT IS UNLESS WE WRITE SOME SILLY LYRICS THAT MAKE US LAUGH AND WRITE A SONG AROUND THAT, IT CAN REALLY GO BOTH WAYS

5.)  Your music is super catchy and fun. Is it fair to say that you guys have as much fun writing the music as we do listening to it?

WE LOVE WRITING MUSIC, WE BASICALLY SIT ON THE SHIP AND JUST LAUGH UNTIL WE HAVE SOMETHING SO CRAZY THAT YOU CAN NOT HELP BUT GET EXCITED AND GIGGLE.. WELCOME TO THE GIGGLES!!

6.)  Does Time II: Party have any relation to The Triumph of Piracy or is this its own thing?

WELL WE WROTE THEM BOTH SO THEY HAVE THAT GOING FOR THEM, NEITHER OF THESE ARE CONCEPT ALBUMS DESPITE WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING, THEY ARE JUST FUN SONGS SINGING ABOUT MY LIFE AND OTHER PIRATING THINGS, WHO COULD ASK FOR MORE???

7.)  Are the names that you go by in this band characters that are direct extensions of who you personally are?

NAMES? WHAT DO YOU MEAN? I AM CAPTAIN YARRFACE AND WELCOME TO THE SEA!! I DO NOT GO BY ANY OTHER NAMES LIKE OTHER SILLY POSER CAPTAINS, I AM A REAL PIRATE

8.)  Are you only Captain Yarrface in the albums and on stage, or are you Captain Yarrface everywhere? 

I DONT UNDERSTAND THE QUESTIONS, I AM CAPTAIN YARRFACE ALWAYS

9.)  What does the future hold for Rumahoy after this pandemic era?

I WANT TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD AND SEA, I CANT WAIT TO PLAY THIS ALBUM FOR EVERYONE AND SEE THEM JUMP AROUND WITH GLEE, I ALSO CAN NOT SAIL MY SHIP ANYWHERE BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS SHUT, I AM A VERY SAD CAPTAIN AT THE MOMENT BUT THINGS WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL SOON!! WELCOME TO THE SEA!!
