Oranssi Pazuzu is a band that no longer needs an introduction when it comes to the realm of black metal, as they are a band that cant be explained or defined. They are a band that delivers an experience and an atmosphere like no other. In their latest album Mestarin Kynsi , they continued to deliver their signature combination of psychedelic black metal but this time, they take it one step further. They were able to take you into many different atmospheres. One minute you are in a dark forrest, and the next minute, you can be in outer space.

Opening with IImestys it starts off Very unsettling and ritualistic. It gets more and more suspenseful and atmospheric as it moves along. Eerie blackened growls come in at 2 minutes that pull you further into the dark realm and setting with many different usages of instrumentation that are both traditional and futuristic incorporated. It remains eerily subtle up until 5 minutes when it kicks in full on with distorted riffs. Morphs into a hexing ritual in outer space. Leading up to track number two Tyhiyyden Sakramentti, it starts of very rhythm driven as it engulfs you into an atmospheric realm of darkness. It is atmospheric, beautiful and also unsettling and constantly leaves you wondering what is going to come next. Kicks in fully around 4 minutes with pure distorted chaos that shatters all harmony and remains in your face with experimental qualities before fading into obscurity. Uusi Teknokratia comes in next and it continues its suspense , before kicking in with eerie and strange sounds that create a very undefined atmosphere, both very organic and technical at the same time that has a scientific vibe behind it. At 4 minutes it pulls back to let more ghostly vocals take the spotlight and eerie rhythm supports it before kicking in with super fast and intense riffing. After 7 minutes, it pulls back and lets the atmosphere speak for itself for the remaining 3. It takes you from outer space to a dark forest and really reinforces the mysterious element after letting everything all out at once. When you get to Oikeamielisten it starts off with very clean guitar tone with an eerie melody leads you right into its atmospheric realm and fully immerses you like no other. It flows and acts as a guide leading you into the main composition. After 2.5 minutes, it kicks into a melodic epiphany that officially locks the door and throws away the key. The screams are as relentless as black metal gets. After 5 minutes, some usages of synths come in that make the whole environment come full circle. Kuulen ääniä maan alta delivers an eerie scientific use of keyboards lead you right in with technical rhythm. It starts off as like a techno song from hell. The screams take the spotlight a a  little bit more and engage you in the narrative. It has its moments when the riffs kick right in but this track almost seems more industrial mixed with black metal and ends it with organs in the outro that add a TON more imagery. Ending the album with Taivaan portti which is 8 minutes of pure kvlt, atmospheric noises that envelope you into the darkest depths of chaos, you have a cinematic and strange ending to easily the most unique aspects of black metal.

Oranssi Pazuzu is another band in the black metal realm that uses many different sounds to create their own. They are able to create an atmosphere, a narrative and a vibe like no other. Just when you think every thing has been done before, there will always be a band that pushes the boundaries even further.
