Issues-Beautiful Oblivion

Issues releases Beautiful Oblivion on October 4th 2019. Like their pervious work, the deliver another album that has the ability to take you on a emotional rollercoaster of intensity, soul, and everything in between.
Opening with Here’s to You, it is able to deliver a nice easy and tranquil intro that easily lures you into this 13 track adventure. Tyler Carter’s vocals creates blues and emotion and the musicianship behind it supports it. It has the ability to relax you and give you goosebumbs at the same time, where you can find comfort being at the edge of your seat. When you get to Drink About It, it continues that sedating momentum that is easy, fun and catchy. You hear the riffs going in and out with its heavier aspects and you slowly hear the tranquil environment begin to crack. Just when you think it is going to take a heavier turn, you get Find Forever which continues the blues and soul. Having a great alternative vibe to lead you in. The riffs take a heavier turn almost something out of the “djent” bands, alternating from that to a peaceful strumming style. This has the ultimate gospel rock vibe to it. A great sing along to carry the catchy momentum that this record has going for it. With this already fun little vibe they have going for them.
Taping Out takes a bit of a more eerie turn with much heavier riffs, and then Tyler’s vocals speed up a little bit that maintain the sensitivity but deliver a tad more attitude and a hardcore grit behind it. It has the ability to deliver some groove without making it a sudden change, which allows for Issues to continue the element of suspense and anticipation for the rest of the record. This is the first track to deliver screams and their more brutal side. If they were to play this album front to back live, the first moshpit would happen at this point. Without You starts off with the ability to take you back down to earth and bring back there more sensitive tendencies of Issues, with the clean vocals able to go full range, having the ability to deliver suspense and catchiness. Rain starts off with Tyler Carter going full range and holds nothing back. The clean vocals, combined with the lyrics and the instrumentals that support it are able to deliver emotion and imagery. This is a track that is able to make any listener get into the song just because of its ability to create atmosphere.
Downfall is when Issues brings back the heavier riffs at first, almost fooling you into thinking that this is gonna be a much heavier track, but then Tyler’s clean vocals are able to completely sedate you into a realm of comfort and refinement. When you get to the chorus, no punches are pulled back and all tears are able to shed with the ability to go full range. With the verse being more tame and the chorus going all out, it has the ability totally wake you up and put yourselves in the shoes of this band. It showcases the different sides, emotions and abilities of Issues. Second Best continues the records experimental abilities with varying in tempo and overall style. You are able to hear how this song evolves from having a very clean and alternative vibe and then instantly switching to a more distorted and aggressive side. This is when you can get a great taste of Josh Manuel’s drumming abilities to be able to switch tempo and utilize multiple techniques to hold the structure together. Get it Right continues the catchy momentum and fun vibe behind this record. Tyler is able to deliver vocals and lyrics that are fast and very hard to keep up with. If one word goes one syllable over the music, it could have easily destroyed the whole composition. One minute it is the bridge between singing and rapping, and then pulls back with harmonies and full range. Just like the track Taping Out, this is where there are multiple usages of the voice and the different usages of instrumentals that support it.
Flexin takes a major poppy and almost hip-hop turn. Lyrically and musically, this song can either be performed live by the band, or by a DJ in a club and it can have the same effect. It is fun, it is catchy and unique. This track can recapture attention and the imaginations of the listener. No Problem starts of with a very tranquil use of base and easy and calm voice over it. This brings the blues and soul back into it. This song border-lines on R&B and straight up hard rock. Its fun, catchy and easy to digest. Your Sake comes in and piano instantly kicks in. You instantly know that you are in for a ballad when listening to this track. It is Tyler and the piano. They each work well independently with the ability to deliver their own distinct melodies but at the same time, work so well together. It is emotional and tender. This is another track that proves that just because a song is slow, doesn’t mean that it cant be powerful. Ending with the title track, Beautiful Oblivion , it continues the tenderness of the vocals style you were hearing in this album while having almost a sonic retrospective of all the instrumental elements you hearing within the riffs and rhythm section of the band. The melody that is delivered in hear signals a sonic end to this emotional party that this record is able to demonstrate. It is steady with a familiar yet fresh sound to conclude this adventure of an album.

Issues is able to deliver emotion, catchiness, soul, tenderness and everything in between with Beautiful Oblivion. This is a record that can make you dance and make you cry at the same time. With Tyler’s multiple usages of his voice, Skyler and AJ’s ability to have multiple sounds in their instrumentals to support the vocal style and stand out on their own and Josh’s ability to hold all the different rhythms together, Issues creates a sound that is very polished in its sound, but raw with emotion.
