Spotlights 7/18 Sunnyvale

Spotlights is a band that can turn any room into an alternate reality whether you are listening to them or seeing them live. From playing in a big arena like the Cony Island Amphitheater with Deftones and Refused, to playing smaller rooms such as their recent show in Sunnyvale in Brooklyn, Spotlights is a band that creates an experience that is different every time, but will always be excellent.

With their new album Love & Decay being favored by many fans of heavy and strange music, many people were excited to see this band play and hear the new songs that are on this album. When they took the stage in the murky darkness of this venue, everything was shortly immersed in blue lights as Mario, Sarah and Chris took the stage. Instantly they kick in with this raw, powerful, heavy and mesmerizing riffs that shook the whole room. The people attending this show have officially entered an alternate reality. With the headbanging of Mario and Sarah while Chris pounds the drums with intense rhythm, it was impossible to take attention away from the stage. Spotlights is able to create both a dream and a nightmare with their unique sound of combing sludge with shoegaze, as if Matt Pike was playing with The Cure. With their sound being beautiful and haunting at the same time, there is still plenty of interaction between the band and the audience. It is their music that is able to send chills down one spine that diminishes any separation between the band and the audience. With heavy new songs such as The Particle Noise and Age of Decay, to songs of ones dreams such as The Size of the Planet and Walls, Spotlights was able to demonstrate how their music has evolved while also maintaining their signature sound.
