Recently many bands have been representing the New York, New Jersey or Long Island scenes very well with their unique styles of music, their performances and now have been expanding outside their cities and state lines to show the world their craft and representing their home turf. With their new album Rex Mortuus coming out 4/5, and opening for Nile this November. Dead City Crown is ready to spawn never ending pits that will leave you limping away.

Valence

Valence proves that you don’t need a vocalist to showcase melody and/or heaviness. With their instrumental sound, they demonstrate intensity, melody and emotion with the sound of their shredding guitar sound. They have all the instrumental elements of Animals as Leaders, Chon, Polyphia and more. Their new album Cognitive Dissidents and a full tour to support it, will further prove their technical capabilities to shred and go all out with their guitar sound and at the same time, write very well structured songs that can say a whole lot. With songs titled “He tried to kill me with a forklift”, they don’t hold back with both their skills and sense of humor as well.

The Muckrakers

What is the sound of New York without hardcore and punk? The Muckrakers are able to reinforce the catchiness and fun of old school punk and hardcore. These 3 are absolute mad scientists with their sound as well as absolute maniacs on stage that will not leave any member of the audience static. Opening for acts such as D.R.I, Doyle and most recently CKY, The Muckrakers create absolute catchiness and fun with their post hardcore and punk rock sound.

Dissentience

Dissentience bring the classic elements of Death Metal and Thrash metal with their intense growls, riffs and god knows how many beats per minute. Rocking the scene in PA, they just dominated the Battle of the Bands at St Vitus and are about to head out to LA to compete for the Wacken Open Air slot. If you miss the Beneath the Remains era of Sepultura, this is a band that you must check out. Intense brutality that will not let go once this band grabs you by the neck.

New York, New Jersey and Long Island have always had a history of amazing artists that have revolutionized hard rock and heavy metal and with these guys as well as many more, this region will continue to bring originality, intensity and power to the world of music.
