Soulfly at St Vitus!!!

Soulfly’s latest album is called Ritual. Like every album, it is an amazing banger of a disc with powerful riffs and pure aggression that engulfs us all in flames. This album title is not only appropriate for the album, but a Soulfly show is a ritual in itself.

When the Cavalera’s role through town, them combined with all their fans are like a tribe who participate in the ritual of moshing, throwing up horns and “jumping the Fuck UP”. Whether you have them coming with their family bands such as Lody Kong or Incite, or coming with banger bands like Soilwork, Unearth, or Toxic Holocaust, every band delivers and Soulfly will always leave you limping away as the venue goes down in history and up in flames.

Unlike playing at a bigger venue like Gramercy Theater, Soulfly hit St Vitus for two nights creating an intimate setting with their pure heaviness. After Toxic Holocaust, Sergio Michel and Systemhouse 33 delivered their A game, we get Soulfly demolishing NYC once again.
Opening up the set was unique. Rather than saving some classics for the very end, they started with the classic, Jump the Fuck Up and then immediately fooled the audience. Right when it would go to clean singing, we jumped right into Eye for an Eyes. We got from the old to the new, hitting with tracks such as Dead Behind the Eyes and Ritual. The relentlessness was constantly hitting the audience full force the whole night. After getting cassics such as No Hope=No Fear, Babylon and Frontlines, we have Marc Rizzo going all out with his relentless soloing that shreds and conveys emotion and energy. After The Summoning and another new track Under Rapture, we get the classic, Back to the Primitive. Ending with Rise of the Fallen and The Prophecy, we get the ultimate Soulfly set with pure brutality and intimacy.

Again, Soulfly coming to NY is more than just a show, it is a Ritual in itself and the tribe who attends this ritual is what makes a Soulfly show so memorable. It has the unity, the brutality and this time being at a smaller club, the intimacy
