15 Epic Tours for 2020

We are a month into 2020 and already, many great albums have come out, many tours have been announced and many people are amping up to return to the pit, barricade and the realms that so many amazing talented musicians are able to bring us in. Here are 15 tours that also serve as signs to 2020 being a great year for rock and metal and how it will start the decade off on a brutal note.

The Return of the classic 80s

When Mötley Crüe announced their return, many people were going insane, but when they announced a full stadium tour with Def Leppard, Poison and Jon Jett, the head of every 80s fan turned a full 180. We eagerly awaited for a return and the Crüe is going to bring classic rock that we all know and love to a brand new decade, satisfying the old school fans, and reminding younger metal heads on why their genre and legacy is so important.

Progressive Bliss

The earliest portion of 2020 will be delivering some serenading prog with the fun and soothing voice of Devin Townsend. Having prog masters Haken and The Contortionist as direct support, this tour is covering all aspects of experimental elements of rock and metal. With the possibility of Devin performing some Strapping Young Lad songs, this IS the time to go see Devin Townsend perform.

20 years of The Sickness

The most recent tour announced, and one of the many summer tours to be announced, Disturbed will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Sickness. The tribal drum fill that leads us in that classic song still echoes through the world of metal 20 years later, and this tour is going to be a reminder of why The Sickness is not only one of the most important metal albums to start the millennium, but why Disturbed created a movement that set an awesome representation of modern metal. Add Staind and Bad Wolves to the mix and you got an awesome tour for the summer.

The Ultimate Metalcore Tour

In 2019, Killswitch Engage’s tour with Parkway Drive served as the ultimate metalcore tour of the year, and Killswitch Engage is ready to secure their name in that title for 2020. Not one, not two, but THREE bands that perfect the formula in their sound, but also touches the hearts of many lovers of metal. This is going to be a tour of brutality, friendship and fun. For both the old school, and new school metalcore fans, this tour will leave you both smiling and limping away.

The newest band that is here to stay

The fall of 2019 had nearly every venue sold out when Jinjer came to the stage, and Jinjer is ready to do it all over again in the spring of 2020 with an even crazier lineup. Brining dethcore legends, Suicide Silence along with them, and Toothgrinder brining in their signature sound of organized chaos, Jinjer is ready to decimate through the weak once more.

A show where you become it

It was less than a decade ago that In This Moment was opening for bands such as Disturbed, Korn and Sevendust, and now they are ready to take those exact same stages and not only headline them, but make them their own. In this Moment has always been able to possess the audience and create an alternate reality, but now that they will be headlining with an all star lineup, they are ready to make you as much of the show as they are.

The yearly tour we all look forward to

The Decibel tour is a yearly tradition for metalheads across the country. Last year with bands such as Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel leaving every venue a smoldering crater, this year, this take an even darker turn with Mayhem and Abbath! Pure black metal will be pulverizing every single venue along with Gatecreeper who has been leading the forefront of modern death metal, and Idle Hands who bring a melodic element of darkness like no other.

Lights, Cameras and Moshpits

This is a diverse lineup that will bring many fans of dethcore, industrial and more into the same room, further demonstrating on how a concert brings people together. With bands such as The Browning and 3teeth brining their lights and production that will create an alternate reality in the venue, Carnifex will take the stage to simply destroy everything in its path. Skynd being on the bill will bring in their own unique sound of dark industrial to give you goosebumps as you amp up for the bit that will lay ahead. Lights, Cameras and Pits is simply the way to describe a night on this tour.

Death metal in its purest form

Sadly, Bloodbath had to cancel their tour in the USA in 2018, but now they are here to make up for it. This deathmetal supergroup is ready to create pure chaos along with Necrot who has always started things off on a good note in every single death metal show. This tour will be covering all aspects of what we all know and love from this genre, further proving that death metal is in good hands.

20 years of the most beautiful chaos

At the tale end of 2017, BTBAM sells out an entire North American tour performing Colors in its entirety, and now we are about to live this experience once again. BTBAM is going to be celebrating their 20 year anniversary as a band, further diving into deepcuts and other aspects of their discography that many fans have yet to hear. It will be a long night of the signature sound we all know and love by this group.

COME ON ALREADY

While we have yet to have a US tour announcement, it is almost inevitable that this group will be hitting the US sooner than later, With many European shows being announced, it is only a matter of time before these legends are ready to make us Not Ok after 8 long years. Before their LA performance, they have not played since Bamboozle 2012. The need for My Chemical Romance to hit us is beyond real, and it looks like we will be getting our fix very soon.

LET FREEDOM RING WITH A SHOTGUN BLAST

Are you ready to let freedom ring with a Shotgun Blast?! Because Machine Head surly is. Starting 2020 off on an intense note, with the classic lineup from this album, this tour is meant to bring people back, as Machine Head continues to push forward. Burn My Eyes can be considered to be one of the most classic 90s metal albums along with Demanufacture, Roots and October Rust, and you can be almost certain that we are going to party like its 1994;)

Tears, riffs and more

When you see Opeth, it is an epiphany like no other. With their new album, In Cauda Venenum brining the voice that can sing you to sleep and scare you to death at the same time, Opeth and Graveyard are ready to bring the most beautiful dark cloud over every city on their winter US run.

The Celebration of a vocalist who touched the hearts of many

For many young metal fans, To Plant at Seed is an album that gave them many tears in highschool. For one more time, we are getting this metalcore masterpiece in its entirety to celebrate the life of their vocalist Kyle Pavone. This will be a tour to celebrate the life of a vocalist who touched the hearts of many, and the album that he sang on that did that as well. This is not just a tour, it is a celebration.

Down in history and up in Flames

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that this tour is going to be amazing. This tour will go down in history and up in flames at the same time. We finally get the first Rammstein album in 10 years and now we are going to hear these amazing songs live as well as their classics. Every stadium will be turned into a warzone and we are perfectly ok with that.

These are only some of the many amazing tours that are lined up this year. We are just at the tip of the iceberg now, but by the end of 2020 we will be limping away with smiles on our faces and horns high in the air.
